Yahoo News Everyone Else Burns: The CW Picks Up Season 2 of British Comedy Ahead of U.S. Premiere
In a vote of confidence for its latest acquisition, The CW has picked up Season 2 of Everyone Else Burns ahead of its Stateside debut.
The British comedy, which bowed on the UK’s Channel 4 in January, received a Season 2 renewal in May. The six-episode first season premieres Thursday, Oct. 26 at 9:30/8:30c on The CW, behind “new” episodes of Canadian imports Son of a Critch, Run the Burbs and Children Ruin Everything.

“Everyone Else Burns is a brilliant and bitingly funny series that is as much about family as it is about the end of days,” CW president Brad Schwartz said in a statement. “There is truly no other comedy on television like it, and we are thrilled to work alongside the immensely talented writers and producers to bring the uniquely hilarious Lewis family to The CW for another season.”
Everyone Else Burns follows the Lewises, “a strictly religious family who believe the world will end within the decade,” according to the official logline. “Patriarch David (played by Friday Night Dinner‘s Simon Bird) longs for the church to promote him. Long-suffering Fiona (Landscapers‘ Kate O’Flynn) hungers for a life beyond sermons and squash. Aaron (newcomer Harry Connor) is a model young believer – except his drawings feature the rest of the family burning in hell. And anxious 17-year-old Rachel (Three Families‘ Amy James-Kelly) is about to fall for someone who could save her social life, but also damn her soul.” You can watch a trailer above.

The CW’s “previously owned” content strategy has been hit or miss. The Nexstar-owned netlet previously pulled Aussie acquisitions Bump and Barons midway through Seasons 2 and 1, respectively, as well as travelogues Down to Earth With Zac Efron and Fantastic Friends (starring Harry Potter twins James and Oliver Phelps) after two episodes apiece. Fellow acquisitions The Chosen, Spencer Sisters, Sullivan’s Crossing and The Swarm, as well as the aforementioned Son of a Critch, Run the Burbs and Children Ruin Everything, remain a part of the current fall lineup.
