Everything you need to know about Doctor Who's Millie Gibson

Calling all Doctor Who fans, after months of waiting, we now finally have our first look at Doctor Who's new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson.

Late last year it was confirmed Millie would be joining Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor's new companion Ruby Sunday, and during a compilation video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) to celebrate 60 years of Doctor Who last night (23rd November 2023) we got our first glimpse of Millie and Ncuti in action.

In the 60 second clip, encompassing a timeline of all previous fourteen Doctors, we then got a very brief look at the new Doctor and Ruby running away from something in Tardis.

We still have a little while to wait before we see Millie and Ncuti together on screen in the upcoming Christmas special, but in the mean time here's everything you need to know about the actor playing the Doctor's newest companion.

What is Millie Gibson's age?

Millie Gibson is 19 years old and was born in Greater Manchester, where she grew up.

Who is Millie Gibson playing in Doctor Who?

In November 2022 it was confirmed Millie Gibson would be playing the Fifteenth Doctor's (Ncuti Gatwa) companion Ruby Sunday.

Not much is known about Ruby's character yet, but we do know we'll get to see her for the first time during the upcoming Christmas special and she will then return for series 14.

When the news of Millie's role was announced she said she was "honoured" to be taking on the role and described it as a dream come true.

"Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor’s companion," she said. "It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me. And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.”

What has Millie Gibson previously starred in?

Millie began acting at a young age and made her acting debut in 2017 in the CBBC drama Jamie Johnson where she played Indira. She then appeared in the BBC drama series Love, Lies and Record and ITV's Butterfly.

Millie is perhaps now best known for her role on Coronation Street where she played the character of Kelly Neelan. She joined the series in 2019 and in 2022 won the Best Young Actor award at the British Soap Awards. She departed the series in September 2022.
