ALL Under One Banner (AUOB) will be holding a Scottish independence march in Bannockburn this weekend as the organisation’s year of demonstrations continues.

The march starting at the Old Stirling Bridge on Saturday will be AUOB’s second event of the year after a successful demonstration for independence in Glasgow last month.

Anyone who supports Scottish independence, regardless of party affiliation, is being invited to gather at the Old Stirling Bridge for 11am when the march to Bannockburn Field will begin.

A spokesperson for AUOB said: “Since the 2014 vote support for independence has largely split Scotland down the middle, but whether you support or oppose Scotland becoming an independent country, there ought to be the agreement that this is a choice for the people of Scotland.

“Scotland's future should not be determined by any UK Government in Westminster, nor any other foreign power. Scottish independence is our right to decide.

“The extraordinary people of Scotland, the growing grassroots independence movement, are key to winning the fight for Scotland's freedom, and we can only realise this if we mobilise as a powerful mass movement and make the decision on our streets, in our workplaces and in our homes, in our schools and universities, and across civic society.

“It doesn't matter who you have voted for in the past, nor where you come from or who you are. If you desire Scottish independence then you are most welcome.”

The event is designed in part to commemorate the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, in which Robert the Bruce claimed victory over the army of King Edward II of England.

Participants are encouraged to bring flags, banners, pipes and drums to the event

Other AUOB marches are set to take place in Elgin on August 3 and Edinburgh on September 7.
