Ex-Tottenham man trains with Premier League club after Leeds United transfer link

Free agent Ryan Sessegnon is training with Crystal Palace - just days after being linked to Leeds United. The left-sided player will be eager to impress and earn a deal, having left Tottenham at the end of his contract this summer.

Sessegnon was once considered among England’s most exciting prospects after progressing through Fulham's youth academy. He was fast-tracked into the Cottagers first team squad at the tender age of 16 where he took no time at all to show his quality.

He plundered 16 goals and contributed eight assists to help Fulham to promotion in the 2017/18 season - all before his 18th birthday. Sessegnon also scooped the Championship player of the year and young player of the year awards.

His meteoric rise saw him snapped up by Spurs in a £25m deal. But the North London club failed to unlock Sessegnon's undoubted potential. The 24-year-old made 57 appearances for Tottenham, registering three goals and four assists.

West Ham United have reportedly enquired about Sessegnon and the Whites are among the clubs said to have kept close tabs on the former England Under-21 international. Now Sessegnon is looking to reignite his stuttering career at Palace.

As for United, they will be looking to strengthen the left hand side of their team in the summer transfer window. Junior Firpo is the only natural left-back on their books, although Sam Byram can fill in there. Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton have officially left the club, despite being offered fresh terms to extend their Elland Road stays. Multiple reports have suggested that Shackleton is closing in on a move to Sheffield United.
