Latest forecasts have revealed when it will finally start to feel like summer with temperatures due to hit 24C. June, so far, has felt cold and wet but warmer weather is on the horizon.

That is according to charts from Netweather.tv which suggested temperatures will hit 24C on June 23, reports The Mirror. But maps from WXCharts suggest the heat surge could come a day or two earlier, around June 21.

It predicts that the 24C blast will arrive on June 22 instead of June 23. The forecast of warmer weather comes as an expert has explained why it feels so cold now.

Simon King, one of the BBC's chief weather presenter, has said we may feel more of the same ext week, with northerly wind knocking temperatures south of average once more. He said that the colder spell is down to low pressure moving across the mid-Atlantic Ocean and predicted that highs wouldn't exceed 10C to 13C in the north and east or 14C and 17C elsewhere.

The big change to summer, he said, might not come until the end of June, with signs pointing towards a buildup of high pressure above the UK in the coming weeks. It has been said that that pressure will help to "stabilise" the weather, with more settled, typically June-like forecasts on the horizon.

In the meantime, the latest local Met Office forecast for Coventry and Warwickshire predicts more unsettled weather for our area over the coming days. Later today, more cooler weather is set to sweep in with heavy rain.

There will be more heavy rain showers tomorrow and into the weekend. But, when we do see some sunshine, it is set to feel warm, especially on Sunday (June 16.)

The latest local forecast is as follows:

Today

A bright start for many with some hazy sunshine in places, especially in eastern areas. Cloud thickening through this morning with showery rain arriving during this afternoon, turning locally heavy. Becoming windier and feeling somewhat cooler than yesterday. Maximum temperature 15C.

Tonight

Cloudy and damp this evening with showery rain, this locally heavy at first. Turning drier overnight but a few showers remain possible. Much milder than last night with winds easing. Minimum temperature 10C.

Friday

A mixed day of cloud, warm sunny spells and showers. The showers may be heavy with a risk of thunder but will generally move through quickly. Blustery winds at times. Maximum temperature 18C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Changeable and showery with some heavy downpours and thunderstorms in places, especially on Saturday. Occasional drier periods too, particularly on Sunday and Monday and feeling warm in the sunnier spells.
