A 'double heatwave' is set to hit the UK later this month, according to new weather maps. After a woeful start to the summer, warm weather is heading our way and the Midlands

The new maps show that the Midlands, which includes Coventry and Warwickshire, i s set to see some of the warmest weather alongside the southeast, east and London, reports the Mirror. Temperatures will be in their 20s - and nearly reaching 30C on Sunday, July 21.

There are also similar conditions on Monday, July 22 as well. The news comes as the weather for our area remains unsettled.

In fact, this evening (July 11) could see some 'heavy showers'. There will be more spells of sunshine over the weekend, but there is still a risk of rain.

The latest local Met Office online forecast is as follows:

Today

Grey skies and periods of light rain and drizzle in northern counties. Brighter at times elsewhere, this possibly leading to heavy showers breaking out later. Generally still feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 19C.

Tonight

Slow moving heavy showers remain possible this evening, especially in the west. Otherwise a mainly dry night with the odd shower in places. Clearer spells in the north later. Minimum temperature 12C.

Friday

A bright start for some with some sunshine. Skies generally clouding over but staying largely dry although a rogue shower couldn't be ruled out. Slightly warmer. Maximum temperature 19C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Isolated showers on Saturday but many places staying dry. Dry on Sunday with some sunshine then rain or showers Monday. Temperatures slightly below average but warm in any sunshine.
