Summer is now just days away, but it really doesn't feel like it.

The mercury has struggled to rise higher than the mid-teens, with many people taking to social media to say they've had to begrudgingly switch their central heating on. Earlier this week, the Met Office said temperatures will remain below average over the next few days due to a northerly wind drawing air from the Arctic across the UK.

The forecast comes as bad news for many, as there has been little warm weather in Liverpool for months and months.

Forecasters at Accuweather also predict some unsettled weather this week, and the week after, but a mini heatwave could be on its way after that. In its long-range predictions, Accuweather has some good news for fans of warmer conditions.

Wednesday, June 26, is predicted to be sunny and with highs of 21C, while the following day (June 27) will be "mostly sunny" with temperatures reaching 24C. And on the Friday, June 28, we can expect the mercury to rise to 23C, with "periods of cloud and sun".

The weather is then set to dip a little, with maximum temps of 20C and "a shower in places" on Saturday, June 29. Sunday, June 30, is predicted to be "sunny and partly cloudy" with highs of 21C.

The Met Office said the UK can expect to "most likely" see "temperatures close to or slightly below average" for the period June 16-25, and that "typical conditions for the UK are most probable" between June 26 and July 10.
