The exact results Scotland need if they draw against Hungary to make it out of Group A at Euro 2024

A certain sequence of results could see Scotland make it out of Group A even if they only pick up a point against Hungary tonight.

Steve Clarke and his players go into the huge game at the Stuttgart Arena knowing that three points will guarantee them a place in the last 16 of Euro 2024 - a feat a Dark Blues side have never managed at any major international tournament. A win against Hungary would likely see the Scots progress as one of the four best third-placed teams from the group stage, although a comfortable win combined with a handsome victory for Germany over Switzerland could even see the Clarke's men clinch second spot in Group A.

But even more incredibly, a specific set of results from games elsewhere in the final round of group stage fixtures could see Scotland progress with a grand total of just two points. In Group B, leaders Spain take on Albania while Euro 2020 winners Italy face Croatia, with both games taking place on Monday night. And Down in Group H on Wednesday, Portugal will be looking to make it three wins from three against Georgia and Turkey are out to clinch their spot in the last 16 against the Czech Republic.

And should Spain, Italy, Portugal and Turkey all emerge victorious, then Clarke's men would remarkably go through in third place in Group A despite having failed to win in any of their three matches. Scotland romped to qualification for the finals in Germany with two games to spare, but as Tartan Army fans we are often accustomed to watching our team do things the hard way.

Everything is in the national team's hands to go out and cement themselves in the history books, and it's now just about getting over the line, by hook or by crook.
