Following a period of glorious sunshine things are expected to turn more normal in the coming days for the time of year according to the Met Office. Temperatures soared above 20°C on Saturday and Sunday but it will begin to feel cooler from Tuesday onwards with a chance of thunderstorms.

Monday will continue to feel pleasantly warm throughout the day with maximum temperatures in Wales again reaching around 23°C. A dry night is then expected to follow with clear spells and some low cloud and fog patches developing towards dawn with minimum temperatures around 6°C.

But from Tuesday the outlook is looking wetter. Sunny spells with scattered showers in the afternoon are expected on Tuesday which could turn heavy or thundery at times. It is likely to remain warm though on Tuesday with a forecasted high of 21°C. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter

Into Wednesday further showers are expected with bright sunny spells at times. There are also forecasted showers which could turn thundery on Thursday.

Temperatures are likely to remain above average for the time of year but it will be cooler than in recent days with highs of 16-17°C with little variation between Tuesday and Sunday. The early signs are that it could be a largely dry bank holiday weekend.

Meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “We’re in a weather no-man’s land at the moment. This is called a col between high pressures and low pressures. Low pressure will eventually win out over the next few days bringing more rain.”
