'Excessive' Rain and Wind Lash Greater Houston Area

Severe storms brought excessive rain and hail to parts of southeast Texas on Thursday, May 2.

The storms were carrying 40 mph wind gusts and hail up to half an inch in size, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned.

Footage taken by Kris Guess shows sheets of rain lashing Jersey Village, northwest of Houston in Harris County, on Thursday morning.

Another round of thunderstorms was forecast to affect the area Thursday night, bringing additional rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches, according to the NWS. Credit: Kris Guess via Storyful
