Yellowjackets fans better brace themselves for a "very emotional" finale, at least according to the show's star Melanie Lynskey.

The actress, recently seen in the TV adaptation of The Last of Us, spoke with Digital Spy to give viewers a few insights into the hotly anticipated season two ending.

"Oh, God, how do I answer this? I was very emotional. I was very, very emotional," Lynskey said of her first reaction reading the script.

"It's a good episode. It's a really good episode. It's just… It's sad. It's also really sad. But crazy. I just remembered a thing that happens in the younger storyline, and it's crazy," she added.

Fret not though, you still have some time to prepare as this tenth and final episode won't make it to air before June. As if anything could ever prepare fans for more bloody, possibly cannibalistic occurrences, that is.

Yellowjackets lovers know the girls fending off for themselves in 1996 in the wilderness aren't doing too good. But their adult counterparts have also come to the realisation that whatever terrible actions they committed in those woods 25 years prior might've come back to haunt them in the present.

"Yes. There's more of… As the season goes on, you see much more of… They're living in the middle of the winter right now," Lysnkey said, promising the show will unveil more of those shameful things the protagonists did in order to survive. "Things are getting really difficult."

Much like the first season, this second chapter picks up in the middle, according to Lynskey, so keep your eyes peeled for a turn of events.

"It's a similar thing to last season. I think it really amps up in the middle," she said. "It just goes like this towards the end, and it's just bonkers."

Yellowjackets season 2 airs on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ in the UK.
