The Expanse season 4: Amazon poised to save acclaimed sci-fi show

The #SaveTheExpanse campaign appears to have been successful, with Amazon reportedly on the verge of closing a deal to revive the show for a fourth season.

The Hollywood Reporter seems so confident it's a sure thing that it went for a 'The Expanse Revived for Season 4 at Amazon' headline, saying that sources told it that Amazon owner Jeff Bezos 'is a big fan of the book and was livid that the TV series went to NBCUniversal-owned Syfy'.

The news comes just 10 days after Syfy cancelled the show, which has established a strong fanbase and attracted reviews that have gotten stronger with each season.

The Expanse was attracting similar ratings to other Syfy shows, but was a good deal more expensive.

"The Expanse transported us across the solar system for three brilliant seasons of television. Everyone at Syfy is a massive fan of the series, and this was an incredibly difficult decision," president of entertainment networks at NBCU Cable Entertainment Chris McCumber said at the time of cancellation.

"We want to sincerely thank The Expanse’s amazing cast, crew and all the dedicated creatives who helped bring James S. A. Corey’s story to life. And to the series’ loyal fans, we thank you most of all.”
