THERE will be a host of different television coverage tonight as the polls near closing in the General Election.

Broadcasters are set to air special election coverage shows throughout the night.

What do the big channels have in store?

STV

Tom Bradby is set to return to lead the coverage on STV tonight – as he did in 2015, 2017 and 2019 – with the broadcaster set to share its programming with ITV rather than running a distinct Scottish offering.

Bradby will be joined by a slew of guests including former first minister Nicola Sturgeon and Political Currency podcast co-hosts former Tory chancellor George Osbourne and Labour’s Ed Balls.

BBC

BBC Scotland is hosting an overnight television programme presented by Martin Geissler, starting at 9:55pm on Thursday on BBC One Scotland and ending at 9:30am on Friday.

Geissler will be joined by Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, who will be interviewing various politicians and commentators, as well as telling the story of Scotland’s election on the UK-wide results programme.

Channel 4

Over on Channel 4 Krishnan Guru-Murthy is heading up their General Election coverage for the first time, alongside former Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis after the polls close at 10pm.

The Rest is Politics co-hosts former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell and former Tory minister Rory Stewart will be joining the programming throughout the night, as well as stars from the hit TV-watching television series Gogglebox.
