'Missing' Couple In Nice Contact Family

A Scottish family have been able to get back in contact with a couple who were reported missing in Nice.

Ross and Carole Cowan were on holiday in the city at the time of the Bastille Day terror attack which has claimed at least 84 lives.

The couple, from Helensburgh in Argyll and Bute, have been travelling around France for the last couple of weeks and spoke to their family an hour before a terrorist drove a lorry into crowds on Promenade Des Anglais.

In the wake of the atrocity Ross, 30, and Carole, 27, were unable to pick up phone calls, prompting "frantic" family members to report them missing.

They have now been confirmed safe and Carole's sister Amy has said that the couple will be leaving Nice tonight.

Though No 10 has said a "small number" of Britons were injured in the attack, the FCO has not yet confirmed if any were killed.

Prime Minister Theresa May said: "We are working urgently to establish whether any British nationals were caught up in the attack.

"Our ambassador is travelling to Nice today with consular staff and they will be doing all they can to help anyone affected."
