Family still missing from Derry nearly two months after police appeal

Police in Derry have launched a renewed appeal for help finding a missing family of seven who have not been seen since the middle of March.

Aged between 18 and six, the Abdi children along with 45-year-old Saadiya Shukri have not been seen since March 14.

They were last reported in the Derry city area and it's believed they may have travelled to England - but police say that after nearly two months this has yet to be established.

The children are Hassan Abdi, 18, Mushaq Abdi, nine, Reyan Abdi, 13, Roman Abdi, 10, Ruweda Abdi, 11, and six-year-old Milhan Abdi. Photographs of some of the children as well as Saadiya Shukri were released on to social media days after they were last seen in the city.

It's believed some of the younger children were pupils of St Anne's primary School in the Creggan area of Derry. In the initial police appeal, a spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Police need assistance in locating a family who were last seen in the City on 14/03/2024.

"Police are increasingly concerned about their welfare. Information suggests they may have travelled to England. However, this has not yet been confirmed. Police are looking for Hassan Abdi (18), Milhan Abdi (6), Mushaq Abdi (9), Reyan Abdi (13), Roman Abdi (10), Ruweda Abdi (11), Saadiya Shukri (45)."

Launching a renewed appeal this week, a police spokesperson said: "We are still Seeking assistance in locating the Abdi family who were last seen in the City on 14/03/2024. Information suggests they may have travelled to England. However, this has not yet been confirmed."

The spokesperson added: "If you have seen the Abdi Family, please contact us on 101 quoting serial 1548 of 12/04/2024."
