Family who discovered deadly rattlesnake in their toilet find another 23 living under their house

It’s fair to say you would never want to find a deadly snake lurking inside your toilet, but sometimes there are even worse things than that.

One family in the town of Abilene, Texas, were unlucky enough to find not just one snake – but a whole den of them.

Young Isac Mcfadden got up to use the bathroom early in the morning and found the huge rattlesnake lurking inside the toilet bowl.

His mum promptly killed it with a shovel and called the pest inspectors round to check that it wasn’t the only one.

And it wasn’t – there were 13 more in a storm cellar and another 10 under the house itself.

Nathan Hawkins, owner of Big Country Snake Removal, told CBS News: “It’s kind of intuition. If you do this long enough, you kind of understand snakes and what they do during certain times of the year.”

He added: “With rattlesnakes, western diamondbacks in particular, they’re real communal animals during cooler months.

“They tend to live together in dens.”

Among the 10 rattlesnakes under the house were five babies – and fortunately Hawkins caught them all before they could cause more toilet traumas.

And, unlike the one found in the toilet, the rest will be relocated or donated to local colleges for study.

Alarmingly, Big Country Snake Removal said on a Facebook post about the incident: “Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there…”

Thanks for that.
