Famous 'bikini' hiker Gigi Wu dies during trek in Taiwan

A Taiwanese hiker famed for posing in her bikini on mountain summits has died during a solo trek.

Gigi Wu is believed to have died of hypothermia after falling into a ravine during a tour in Yushan National Park.

The 36-year-old is known worldwide for posting pictures of her climbs wearing swimwear.

According to local media reports, Wu managed to contact emergency services but attempts to rescue her were delayed by bad weather.

Rescuers were reported as saying that her body was found on Monday.

Tributes have poured in on social media to Wu, who was an experienced hiker despite becoming famous for her bikini-clad photos.

Thousands have commented on her Facebook page which has been renamed ‘Remembering Gigi Wu’.
