ITV have revealed that one of Coronation Street fan favourites – Adam Barlow – is returning to the soap and viewers are delighted.

The news came when Coronation Street released a number of behind the scenes shots under the hashtag #SaturdaySneakPeeks on Facebook earlier today. The actor Sam Robertson, who plays Barlow, came be seen playing table football on set.

Soap fans were delighted at the news, with a flurry of “yay Adam’s back” being posted beside the picture.

Barlow departed the cobbles back in February after his romance with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) was discovered. Why he’s returning and what he’s hoping to achieve is still a mystery. Platt and her partner Gary (Mikey North) are about to encounter another drama in their relationship – and one which has nothing to do with Platt’s affair. Some of Gary’s lies are coming back to haunt him and it may be make or break for the two.

If Sarah Platt does call time on her relationship, could she find herself back in the arms of Adam Barlow?

One fan commented on Facebook:

“Soo glad Adam back. Hope he and Sarah get together. Gary is such a loser.”

The part of Adam Baldwin was originally played by Iain de Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). Sam Robertson joined Coronation Street as Adam Barlow back in 2004, before leaving in 2007. During his time away he went into the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2013, only to be the second evictee. He then returned to the cobbles in 2016.

At the time, he talked to Radio Times about his womanising ways.

“Adam’s a womaniser and at the minute he doesn’t seem to have much regard for the women he’s with. He doesn’t seem to have much heart, but maybe this is leading to him getting his fingers burnt.”

But will the womanising continue, when he returns once more? Tune into Coronation Street on ITV to find out.
