'Fat' Snowflakes Fall on Western Washington

A cold front brought precipitation to western Washington on Wednesday, January 18, with showers in the lower elevations and snowfall higher in the mountains, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Anita Kissee said she filmed this footage of “big fat snowflakes” on Wednesday night from North Bend, at an elevation of 1,100 feet.

“A bit unexpected!” Kissee wrote on Twitter.

Commuters were warned to drive slowly on Thursday morning in case the near-freezing temperatures made roads icy. Credit: Anita Kissee via Storyful
