Fay Ripley sold George Michael's used towel for cash as a struggling actor

Cold Feet star Fay Ripley has shared her unusual pre-fame money making method; selling George Michael's used towel.

The actor has revealed that before she made a name for herself in acting, she worked at a sunbed health centre which counted the pop sensation as a client.

“I used to work in a sunbed health centre and the sweat reference is because George Michael was a regular customer," she shared on This Morning. "I always pretended to not know who he was by the way!

“He would go on and my job, apart from to take George’s cash, was to wipe the sweat, his pop star sweat, off the sunbed, to put his towel away and to wash his towel… I sold his towel.

“I was very entrepreneurial. I’m really sorry. And also sometimes, if there weren’t any chest hairs I would get other people’s and stick them on and say… I’m not sure all of the DNA was right!’”

However, Ripley divulged that she didn't make a lot out of her side venture.

She added: "I was a struggling actress and this was before I got Cold Feet. Anyway, then I got Cold Feet and I didn’t have to sell towels anymore!”

Ripley featured as Jenny Gifford in the comedy-drama between 1997 to 2003 before returning for its 2016 revival.

The last series of Cold Feet saw the character undergoing cancer treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

However, she has teased that there is a "light at the end of the tunnel" for Jenny.
