'Gentleman' FedEx worker, 60, stabbed to death in front of depot colleagues

A man has been charged with murder after a 'true gentleman' courier worker was stabbed to death in front of colleagues.

Philip Woodcock, 60, died after an incident at FedEx in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on 2 November.

South Yorkshire Police said emergency services were called to the scene in Rother Way, Hellaby, at 9.39am on Wednesday to reports of a disturbance.

They said Woodcock was found with critical injuries and died at the scene. A post-mortem examination found he died as a result of stab wounds.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers, the force said.

A second man is believed to have suffered minor injuries during the incident, which did not require medical treatment.

Ronald Sekanjako, 48, of Bellhouse Road, Sheffield, was charged on Thursday night with murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Paying tribute to Woodcock on Facebook, Sarah Roberts wrote: "Such a tragic day at work yesterday, the absolute tragic loss of a fantastic man who literally had time for everyone. The place just won’t be the same ever again."

She added: "My thoughts are with Phil’s family at this time. No one should leave home for work in a morning and not return, it’s just heartbreaking."

Another colleague described him as "a true gentleman", saying: "The absolute tragic loss of a fantastic man who literally had time for everyone, never heard anyone say a bad word as he always had time for them, a true gentleman."
