'I fell ill with Covid - it left me able to talk to the dead and marry a ghost'

A woman who fell ill with Covid says the near-death experience left her able to talk to the dead - and even marry a ghost.

Singer-songwriter Brocarde first made headlines after she got wed and then divorced the ghost of a Victorian soldier called Edwardo. The 40-year-old has now revealed that a life-threatening medical incident almost ended her life.

She believes it ''opened the portal to the afterlife''' and left her able to ''transcend the boundaries'' and communicate with the undead entities. “Almost dying forces you to change your views on life, nothing is infinite, nothing is impossible and there’s a whole world out there that we don’t truly understand", she said.

"It’s easy to write off ghost encounters as humour or fantasy, and I try my hardest to maintain a good sense of humour throughout everything I’ve encountered, but there’s a serious side to the spirit world.”

Brocarde found herself facing death when she caught Covid. During her time in hospital she claims to have had a string of strange out-of-body encounters and messages from beyond the grave.

However, it was until she returned home several months after that she had her first earth-shattering experience with a force she knew wasn’t human.

“Talking about almost dying was impossible for me at the time and after such a dramatic ghost encounter I felt I need to address the paranormal element of what happened, as it felt easier than the human element, but I really recognise the connection now between the two sets of events. There’s definitely truth in the notion, that almost dying, lead to me being able to communicate with the dead.

“After that experience, my whole life changed, I was fearless because I’d realised that death is the worst thing that could happen to us, so being judged for talking about my paranormal encounters felt irrelevant. I concluded that everything happens for a reason, and when we faced with death, it’s not the opinions of strangers that are important.

“Speaking out about ghosts has led to me having death threats, people suggesting I’m mental or on drugs, people ridiculing me and saying that I’ll never be taken seriously in my music career, but that’s just one side of the story. It's easy to focus on hate but actually the amount of people who have reached out to share their experiences and ghost encounters with me has been overwhelming and the amount of interest in the subject is phenomenal.”

Brocarde, from Oxfordshire, journey into the paranormal has seen her star in many TV shows, she visited This Morning on the day of her wedding and her ghost wedding featured on Say Yes to The Dress with Tan France. Her paranormal romance has captured conversations across the world, and the singer is currently filming a series on paranormal activity to learn more about the supernatural world.
