“Feud” Trailer Shows Demi Moore, Calista Flockhart and More as 'Swans' Out to 'Destroy' Their Gossipy Guy Pal

The FX series' latest season, which chronicles Truman Capote's falling-out with the socialite set, also stars Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Molly Ringwald and Treat Williams in his final role

Truman Capote maybe have been the first Friend of the "original Housewives."

Feud: Capote vs. The Swans is anthology series' follow-up season to its debut season in 2017 — and like Bette and Joan, this story is based on a real-life drama. In the trailer dropped by FX on Wednesday, Capote (Tom Hollander) explodes his own social circle by writing an exposé on his powerful and privileged friends. The so-called society "Swans" quickly cut him off and put a target on his back.

The Ryan Murphy-produced limited series features a powerhouse cast to portray 1970s New York's elite echelon of glamorous, wealthy women, with Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest, Diane Lane as Nancy "Slim" Keith, Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson, Naomi Watts as Babe Paley and Demi Moore as Ann Woodward.

Treat Williams — who died unexpectedly at age 71 in a June motorcycle accident — also makes his final on-screen appearance as Paley's husband and media tycoon Bill.

The eight-episode series, which is based on the bestselling book by Laurence Leamer, Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, shows the rise and fall of the acclaimed In Cold Blood author as he “ingratiates” himself into the socialites’ lives, “befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets," according to a show synopsis.

The trailer introduces Kennedy in-law Radziwill, who says she and the swans "made New York the capital of the world" as they revel in their glamorous lives, which are full of "sex, money and endless adventure."

As Capote cozies up to them, Babe Paley seems to be the first to divulge some of the group’s secrets to the writer, as she tells him, “We see the importance of presentation. Underneath, though, it’s an act.”

“Tell me everything,” he replies.

She goes on to list some of the duplicity within their circle, as she tells him, “Even your sister will steal your man,” and also divulges a secret about the then-governor’s wife, whom Capote calls “fat-ankled” and “hairy.”

Though he’s warned that even the fictionalized version of the swans’ story, witch revealed some of their “deepest secrets,” would “hurt them,” an excerpt from Capote’s book gets published in Esquire, sending the ladies into a tailspin.

“Your story cast its spell and took away everything I have,” Keith tells Capote angrily in one scene before throwing a porcelain plate at the wall, shattering it.

Among the salacious details he includes in the exposé is an allegation that Woodward — who seems ever-ready to be on the inside of the swans' tight circle — killed her husband, earning her the nickname "Bang Bang."

Later, the ladies gather together and pledge to “stand united and destroy him” after Keith advises they cut Capote off “from all high society” because “that will kill him.”

As the trailer concludes, the disgraced writer gets more than his fair share of abuse as he’s punched in the jaw, Woodward splashes a glass of wine in his face and Carson yells at him to “Get out!”

In the end, Capote’s betrayal and banishment from the glamorous world he’d entered into sends him “into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover,” according to the synopsis.
