Film 'Love's Fast Lane' features Somernites Cruise, other local sites

Dec. 27—Somerset is on the screen once again — this time in "Love's Fast Lane."

The second movie to be filmed in Pulaski County this past spring by producer Danny Roth, "Love's Fast Lane" is currently available to stream online with XumoPlay (play.xumo.com), a site featuring news, free movies and TV shows, and more.

Originally titled "Sparks," the romantic comedy "Love's Fast Lane" in particular features Somernites Cruise — specifically the name, which is used along with the Somernites Cruise garage on South Central Avenue.

Additionally, Somernites Cruise helped round up hot rods to appear in the film, back in March. The film would go on to be shot into April.

"We got a lot of good exposure, I thought," said Somernites Cruise Executive Director Keith Floyd. "The building is on there quite a bit and you can see name and the logo in the background quite a bit, so we were tickled to death with that."

He noted the 1971 Ford Mustang that was given away in October as the season's raffle car made an appearance in the film as well. "There were several team members' cars and other people's cars in there too," said Floyd.

And, he noted, sharp-eyed viewers can see Floyd himself as an extra early on in the film.

"If you see somebody walk by in the background and about a minute later they walk back by, that was actually me," said Floyd. "If you go about an hour and 10 minutes into it, you see two more of our team members go by in the background."

Other local individuals were also featured as extras in the film and are visible in different scenes.

A number of other recognizable locations appear in "Love's Fast Lane," including scenes shot at The Center for Rural Development, the Chalet, and the Charred Oak Grill.

The movie's plot, as described on imdb.com, is as following: "After a video of her goes viral, down to earth mechanic, Nikki "Sparks" Turner, finds herself falling for the charming publicist, Jeremy Mitchell as they strive to turn Nikki into the first female host of America's biggest car show."

Directed by Ben Meyerson, and written by Bre Mueck and Jordan Mueck the film stars Grace Patterson, Thomas Gipson, Gavin Herscher, and Christina Liccia, among others.
