Filming spotted in Bristol for ITV period drama remake

Filming on Bristol's iconic Christmas Steps has begun today (June 25). The Christmas Steps pub has been transformed into an period drama set based on the 1920s book series 'The Forsyte Saga.'

Eleanor Tomlinson, who played lead character Demelza Poldark in the 'Poldark' series, BAFTA winner Francesca Annis and Jack Davenport, star of The Morning Show and Ten Percent are just a few names making up the star-studded cast.

Filming has taken place across Bristol, including at St. Mary Redcliffe church near Temple Meads station. Facebook account Christmas Steps Arts Quarter posted a sneak-peak reel on Saturday (June 22) revealing the shop front transformations.

Christmas Steps Arts Quarter said: "Bonsoir! Christmas Steps is slowly being turned into a little corner of Montmartre! With filming happening next week for the new Forsyte Saga series, the set dressing has begun! Come for a stroll around the shops, cafes, pubs, galleries and other independent businesses tomorrow and see some of the changes so far!"

The ITV-backed production is the third adaption of the novels by English author John Galsworthy. PBS Masterpiece, the drama television series behind Downton Abbey and Sherlock, has set a six-part season written by Poldark writer Debbie Horsfield.

Galsworthy's 'The Forsyte Saga' follows a wealthy British family in 1880s London, although The Christmas Steps set appears to show French shop fronts. There is currently no UK broadcaster attached to the series, with ITV Studios handling international distribution and PBS overseeing North American rights.
