Fire crews rush to house explosion in Tameside with one injured

A person has been injured after a house explosion in Tameside, emergency services have said. Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to Glenmore Grove in Dukinfield tonight (Friday).

One casualty was treated for minor injuries by an ambulance crew. Three fire engines and a technical response unit were sent to the scene at about 7.15pm.

No neighbouring properties were evacuated, although some roads were closed and nearby residents were told to stay indoors.

Firefighters remain at the scene and are working alongside Cadent gas to 'make the area safe'.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Shortly after 7.15pm this evening (Friday, 3 May), three fire engines from Stalybridge, Mossley and Hyde fire stations, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh, were called to reports of an explosion on Glenmore Grove, Dukinfield.

"Crews arrived quickly and used two breathing apparatus and a gas monitor to assess the scene. One casualty is being treated by North West Ambulance Service for minor injuries.

"Firefighters remain in attendance and are working alongside Cadent Gas to make the area safe."
