Fire crews tackle barber shop 'blaze' in Newport

Multiple Isle of Wight fire crews tackled a fire at a barbers in Newport late last night (Monday).

At around 11.20pm, crews from Newport, Cowes and Ryde were called to the scene on the High Street.

They were responding to a ground-floor fire at Efes Barber.

Equipped with breathing apparatus, firefighters used jets and hose reels to tackle the blaze.

Ventilation fans were then used to clear the smoke from the premises and the crews stood down by 12.35am.
