Fire Crews Were Called Out To A Christmas Pudding Blaze Last Night

Christmas came early for a group of Devon firefighters after they were called to deal with a festive pudding blaze.

Crews rushed to a house in Barnstaple last night after a Christmas pudding caught fire in a microwave.

Summer isn’t yet officially over and it’s still 107 days until the big day.

But that didn’t deter the homeowners from tucking into the rich treat, presumably left over from last year.

The fire broke out at a flat in Barum Court at around 7.45 p.m, according to the BBC.

Luckily, only the dessert was ruined by the flames.

It’s not clear whether brandy had been splashed on the food before it was placed into the microwave.

“On arrival the crews confirmed that this had been a small fire involving a Christmas pudding within a microwave,” said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman.

“The damage was confined to the Christmas pudding itself, crews made the area safe and ventilated the property,” he added.
