Fire Service tackle blaze at commercial premises in Belfast docks

The fire service have spent the morning tackling a blaze at a commercial premises in Belfast docks.

Emergency services were called to the incident on West Bank Road shortly before 8:20am.

Two appliances from Whitla Fire Station and one appliance from Westland Fire Station attended the scene with firefighters using breathing apparatus bringing the blaze under control by 1.55pm.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial property on West Bank Road, Belfast.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. Firefighters continued to monitor gas readings until they returned to normal.

"The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental ignition and the incident was dealt with by 1.55pm."
