Firefighters Drive Past Forest Glowing With Flames From New South Wales 'Mega Blaze'

Firefighters battled an out-of-control “mega blaze” spanning the New South Wales-Victoria border on January 14 as residents were warned of increased fire activity near the small town of Tumbarumba.

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service issued a “watch and act” alert for the area on Tuesday as the Dunns Road fire flared up. On Friday, the blaze merged with the Green Valley and East Ournie Creek fires to form a fire that by Tuesday afternoon had burned through more than 500,000 hectares.
