Firefighters tackle Coventry house blaze as room 'engulfed in flames'

Firefighters spent more than an hour tackling a blaze at a semi-detached house in Coventry. It happened on The Scotchill in Keresley.

Crews from Bickenhill Fire Station were called to the scene at around 7.30pm on Friday (July 5). A 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle also attended, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Officials told CoventryLive that a timber and brick-built conservatory was ablaze at the back of a semi-detached house on The Scotchill. Everyone had left the address, and there were no casualties, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Crews spent around an hour tackling the blaze, leaving the scene at around 8.50pm. Investigations found that the fire had started accidentally, West Midlands Fire Service said.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We responded to The Scotchill in Keresley at around 7.30pm on Friday, July 5. Crews from Bickenhill and a 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle from Coventry attended, the first arriving within four minutes of being mobilised.

“It was a fire in a timber and brick-built conservatory at the rear of a semi-detached house on The Scotchill. Everyone had left the property, and there were no casualties. Crews left the scene at 8.49pm.”
