Firefighters urge drivers to give them space on the county's roads

Firefighters are reminding drivers that "every second counts" as they ask road users to give them more space.

Being unable to pass vehicles can be a huge problem for fire crews on their way to incidents.

The issue is most often encountered on the narrow roads of the county's rural and coastal areas, but Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service say crews can also experience issues in urban areas.

A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue said: "We want to get to the people in our communities who need our help as quickly as possible and we all have a part to play in ensuring this can happen.

"Every second counts in these situations, so please make sure you allow enough room for our fire appliances to get past when they need to.

"We are urging drivers to consider if a fire engine, ambulance, or any other emergency vehicle is able to get past.

"If drivers are in any doubt, we urge them to look for an alternative parking spot."
