First Celtic vs Rangers clash gets new fixture date as 2 Hoops games moved for Sky Sports TV coverage

The first derby of the season between Celtic and Rangers has moved date.

The Glasgow rivals were originally due to meet on Saturday, August 31 after the SPFL revealed the fixture list for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign last week. However, it has now been confirmed that the fixture will now take place a day later with a 12.30pm start and is expected to be shown live on Sky Sports. The new date for Parkhead meeting will be Sunday, September 1 as Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Clement renew rivalries on the touchline.

Celtic's fixture the weekend before against St Mirren has also been switched to Sunday, August 25 with the game starting at 12pm. Both fixtures will be shown live on TV as the new season continues to take shape. The Scottish Premiership kick-off is now less than a month away with clubs ramping up their pre-season schedules and transfer activity. Rodgers and his troops return to action on Friday night as they face legendary skipper Scott Brown and his Ayr United side at Somerset Park.
