First Dates Hotel guest shares his "terrible" chat-up line
First Dates Hotel may be closing its doors on another series after tonight, but it made sure to save the best – or, quite possibly, worst – for the final episode.
In tonight's (June 4) episode of the Channel 4 series, 26-year-old physiotherapist George introduced himself by admitting that his "chat is terrible", and then proceeded to share an example to prove it.
"One of my chat-up lines that I've used prior – I apologise in advance for this," he began.
"When I was in year nine, I was at a ball, and this girl in the lower sixth came up to the table. She was beautiful [and] I said to her, 'You turn my software into hardware'."

Cue the awkward pause – but at least George recognised it, quickly adding: "Yeah, exactly!
"Since then, I've just kind of turned away from approaching girls – I just can't do it."
Viewers couldn't decide whether it was "cringey" and terrible or absolutely brilliant but, either way, it was definitely memorable. Even Gogglebox star Emma (of Emma and David) picked up on the moment, calling it "the best chat up line EVER".

Thankfully, George's date with 26-year-old Cara was free of any computer-based attempts at romance, and the couple quickly bonded over a love of cleaning.
Unfortunately, the series ended without an update on George and Cara's relationship, so we'll never know if George took Cara up on her offer to clean half of her flat – but at least there weren't any more chat-up lines to divide audiences!
