The Traitors series one winner Aaron Evans has revealed he gave his prize money to his mother – then asked for it back.
The 26-year-old barman – who was one of the winning Faithfuls in the 2023 series of the hit BBC show – appeared in the latest episode of dating show First Dates and was instantly recognised by waiter CiCi Coleman. But Aaron left his date baffled when he was asked for a selfie by a fan, as she didn't have a clue who he was.
What, how, and why?
Aaron, from Devon, appeared on the news series of Channel 4 dating show First Dates. He is known to fans of the The Traitors for winning £101,050 prize pot with Faithfuls Meryl Williams and Hannah Byczkowski in the first series of the reality show hosted by Claudia Winkleman.
Aaron revealed: "I got to the final and won like £33,000. I ended up giving the money to my mum anyway. Well I gave her the £33,000, and then asked for three grand back 'cause I was skint."
The reality TV star revealed that he had received a lot of romantic attention since being on The Traitors, but it had all been from men. He said: "People will slide into your DMs but it's all guys." Maitre d' Fred Sirieix told Aaron he looked like a young Brad Pitt.
Aaron was matched with student Laura and they bonded over a shared diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD.
But Laura was baffled when someone else in the restaurant came up and asked Aaron for a selfie. She asked: "Why the hell is someone taking a selfie with you?" Aaron shrugged and joked: "Brad Pitt." Laura said: "'I don't know what's going on? I'm being pranked!"
Later Aaron called his mother and told her: "I think she's unreal, she's a bit too pretty for me. " But he added that they were getting on well. He said: "We just bounce off each other."
The pair flirted sitting out on the sofas over a chocolate fondue. Asked if the would see each other again Laura said: "Yes. We're going for a drink after this." She told Aaron: "I really like your personality and I love your rings and he's a good nice guy." But asked about whether she recognised him from the TV she said: "I had no clue."
What else happened on First Dates?
The episode also saw deaf couple Sean and Carly matched, who conducted their date using sign language. The pair were a hit with viewers.
One wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter: "Hoping and praying Sean and Carly work out because I can’t stop smiling at how lovely they are #FirstDates" Another said: "I have high hopes for Sean and Carly #FirstDates" And a third commented: "Amazing inclusivity on First Dates tonight."
But Carly told Sean she didn't want to see him again after he told her doesn't like to go out partying as he'd rather save his money. Carly said: "For me I would say it's a no. When I met you you weren't my normal type. You're a good boy - I'm more into bad boys." Sean said: "I don't have a bad bone in my body."
First Dates season 21 airs on Tuesdays at 10pm on Channel 4.
