The opening date for a new Nepalese restaurant and speakeasy bar in Edinburgh's city centre has been confirmed, with the venue also giving their followers a sneak peak of the interior.

Last month we reported how the team behind top-rated Meadowbank Asian restaurant Gautam's were bringing their new concept - Thamel - to East London Street.

The trendy spot has been advertised as a " Cosmopolitan Nepalese kitchen and speakeasy bar" with a variety of classic authentic small plates and main dishes as well as cocktails and Asian beers on draught and in bottles.

Thamel has built up nearly 1,000 Instagram followers since announcing their exciting new project, with many frequent customers at their sister restaurant Gautams, on Dalziel Place, excited to see what the team produce next.

That being said, Thamel officially opened on Wednesday, May 8 for walk-ins and reservations officially open on Friday night. Taking to Instagram to make the announcement they posted: "THAMEL will be open from Wednesday the 8th of May for Walk-ins and our reservations will be open for the Friday later tonight.

"We have loved how many of our neighbours have come to speak to us and welcome us to the neighbourhood already and would love to meet you all in the near future! Come and check out your new neighbourhood hotspot! Love Gautam’s family."

The post was accompanied by two pictures of the restaurant's interior with flowers hanging from the bar and the walls painted dark orange. Furthermore, the team revealed a secret speakeasy bar is located on the lower ground floor after they responded to one customer who asked if a booking could be made for drinks only.
