First picture of woman killed in horror crash on notorious A9 in Highlands

A woman who died in a horror road crash on the A9 in the Highlands has been named by police.

Emergency services were called to the collision involving a Kia Rio and an Iveco Daily van near Slochd at 9.30pm on Monday, May 6. Paramedics attended, however the 42-year-old driver of the Kia was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

She has been named as Morven Gordon from Aviemore. Police say inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash remain ongoing.

Officers from Police Scotland have appealed to any witnesses to come forward. In particular, they want to hear from those with dash-cam footage.

Sergeant David Miller from the Road Policing Unit at Dingwall said: “Our thoughts remain with Morven’s family and friends at this very difficult time. Her family has asked that their privacy is respected.

“Our investigation into this crash is continuing and we would re-appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or who was in the area at the time and has information that may assist to contact us. We would also ask drivers with dash-cam to check their footage and please get in touch if it holds anything relevant.
