In the Land of Saints and Sinners, the new film starring Liam Neeson and Ciarán Hinds, has released its first trailer.

The thriller film follows Finbar Murphy (Star Wars and Taken star Neeson), a recently retired assassin who finds himself drawn into a lethal game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists.

The action-packed trailer shows Finbar settling down for a quiet life in a small village in Ireland, before coming into contact with a figure (The Banshees of Inisherin actress Kerry Condon) from his shadowy past. Hinds, who played villainous Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones, appears to be playing the local police officer.

In addition to Neeson, Hinds and Condon, the cast for the film also includes Jack Gleeson, Sarah Greene, Conor MacNeill and Colm Meaney, with the script being penned by Terry Loane and Mark Michael McNally. Robert Lorenz, who previously collaborated with Neeson on The Marksman, is directing the film.

In the Land of Saints and Sinners had its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival earlier in September, with the film garnering mixed reviews thus far as it boasts a 60% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.

It is expected to stream on Netflix in the coming months, but a release is yet to be announced for the feature.

Hinds appeared as Mance in three seasons of HBO's fantasy-drama Game of Thrones, which has since been expanded with spin-off, House of the Dragon.

Following the success of the first season, a follow-up run was promptly ordered, with the sophomore instalment running at a shorter length of eight episodes.

"There are eight wonderful episodes with so much happening in every episode, and we have trouble, at times, bringing them down to one hour," teased director Claire Kilner.

"They're jam-packed with emotional and visually exciting events," she added.

In the Land of Saints and Sinners will stream on Netflix. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
