Fishermen Rescued From Sinking Ship Off the Coast of Shetland

The Lerwick RNLI Lifeboat helped rescued five fishermen after their fishing boat sank off the coast of Shetland on Friday morning.

“The lifeboat had a difficult time trying to safely get alongside the fishing vessel which subsequently sunk,” Mark Rodaway, commander for the UK Coastguard said in a statement.

“But I’m delighted to say that all five fishermen are safe and well and the fact that they were all wearing lifejackets ensured that they had the best chance of survival.”

The Scottish Sun reported the lifeboat went down rapidly. This video shows the dramatic rescue. Credit: YouTube/RNLI Lerwick via Storyful
