Five of the best 10-inch tablets available to buy

Sony announced the Xperia Z2 Tablet during Mobile World Congress at the end of February and now the 10.1-inch device is available to buy.

Starting at £399, the Xperia Z2 doesn't come cheap, but it does offer a lot for bang for its buck. Here we have rounded up what you get with the Xperia Z2 along with four other great 10-inch tablets available to buy now.

Google Nexus 10 - £269

The Google Nexus 10 might not be the newest tablet around but that doesn't mean it isn't worthy of its place in this list.

Manufactured by Samsung, the Nexus 10 brings a pure Android experience, a display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, which is brilliant, and a 5-megapixel rear camera, plus a 1.9-megapixel front camera.

It has a speedy processor so it will be able to perform most tasks you throw at it and while its slim 603g build might not be as appealing as other tablets, it does come at a great price.

Apple iPad Air – from £339

The Apple iPad Air is lighter, thinner and faster than all the iPad's that have gone before it and it offers a great design.

You'll find a 9.7-inch display so slightly under the 10-inch mark, but it comes with a 2048 x 1436 resolution in a build that is just 7.5mm thick.

There is a 5-megapixel camera on the rear, along with a 1.2-megapixel snapper on the front that also comes with 720p high definition (HD) video support and the option to make FaceTime and Skype video calls.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet – from £399

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is claimed to be the world's slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet and measures 6.4mm, hitting the scales at 426g.

The 10.1-inch display offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution so it is slightly lower in pixel density than others on this list but Sony adds a lot of its own technology such as Triluminos, X-Reality and Live Colour LED to give the display a lot of punch.

It has a speedy processor under the hood, along with an 8.1-megapixel rear camera and 2.2-megapixel front camera - brilliant for video chat and selfies, plus you also get microSD support for storage expansion.

Asus Transformer Pad TF701T - £430

The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T is a 10.1-inch device that marries an Android tablet with a keyboard dock into one product, bridging the gap between tablet and laptop.

It has a 2560 x 1600 resolution display, which is amazing and the build quality itself is also great.

The processor is powerful enough to deliver your daily needs and the battery life is good, so if you are looking for a dual-function Android device, this one is certainly worth considering.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - £450

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is the most expensive on this list but it is a powerful bit of kit with a fantastic 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution.

It comes with the company's S Pen stylus, which works really well and the handwriting recognition feature is a step ahead of where it has been in the past.

The Note 10.1 offers microSD support for storage expansion plus a great design, and although it is pricier than its competitors, it's a lovely device.
