Five brunches in Liverpool you have to try

Brunch: the best meal of the day.

Whether you've slept in or are suffering from a terrible hangover, a great, late breakfast can mean the difference between a good or bad afternoon.

And for some reason, it has become socially acceptable to down a bottle of prosecco with this almighty meal: "Alcohol with breakfast?" "Let's not."

"Alcohol with brunch?" "Let's go!"

Like most towns and cities in this country, Liverpool is not short of brunch options and we reccomend giving one of these locations a go.

Churrasco Steak House

Churrasco is a steakhouse with venues in Liverpool city centre and Aigburth, with the latter offering a brunch menu on weekends.

There's a broad selection of options available, including a classic full English, steak and eggs and Biscoff French toast. Guests also have loaded hash browns to choose from.

In 2022, the restaurant was named in OpenTable’s UK top 50 restaurants for brunch and Sunday lunch. The ECHO's Emily Sleight also described her meal as "perfect" in her review here.

Churrasco Steak House can be found on Aigburth Rd, Liverpool L17 8XW.

Moose Coffee

Moose Coffee specialises in the American/Canadian style breakfast, with typical north-eastern Atlantic dishes including pancakes, waffles and also savoury offerings - which mostly feature eggs, bacon and the restaurant's signature potato hash.

With humble beginnings, Moose started on Merseyside in 2006 and now boasts six locations across the North-West of England, with branches in Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds.

Numerous celebrities have visited over the years, including Samuel L Jackson, Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley. Favourite menu items include Mighty Moose (potato hash topped fried eggs and bacon and served with toast), Grande Bouche (French toast with bacon and maple syrup) and New York Moose (eggs benedict with serrano ham).

The ECHO's Jamie Greer tried Moose Coffee and you can read his review here.

Moose has locations on Dale Street, Hope Street and William Jessop Way.

Wreck

Gary Usher's Wreck (formerly Wreckfish) on Seel Street is known for great food in a relaxed bistro environment.

A breakfast menu is available from 7-11am on weekdays and 8-11.30am on weekends. Options range from thick sliced white or wholemeal toast to the Wreckfish full breakfast. Other items include poached egg and smashed avocado on toast, poached egg and creamy mushrooms on toast, and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast.

Traditional pre-noon drinks such as tea, coffee and fruit juice are available but for those wanting to start the day with some alcohol (we're not judging), cocktails are available with mimosa, bloody Mary and breakfast martini to choose from.

Wreck is on 60 Seel St, Liverpool L1 4BE

Carlisi

When you imagine a typical Italian breakfast, you probably think of some sort of pastry with a cappuccino. This sort of minimalism however, will not be shown on this Italian restaurant's menu.

Carlisi, which has two locations in the city, serves up waffles, bagels along with Italian-inspired brunches such as focaccia porchetta (pork focaccia) and panino pancetta (Italian bacon sandwich).

Gluttons may also rejoice as their take on the full breakfast, 'The King', includes: two slices of sourdough fior di latte cheese, avocado, sundried tomatoes, Scottish salmon and four slices of pancetta with extra virgin olive oil.

Carlisi can be found either on 92-94 Dale Street, Liverpool L2 5TF OR 57 Allerton Road, Liverpool L18 2DA

Bam Boo

Bam Boo set up shop on Bold Street in September 2023. Specialising in brunch and cocktails, the venue has arrived in the city with nothing but fanfare from anyone who has pulled up a seat.

The restaurant offers guests a range of breakfast and brunch classics including pancakes, bagels, poached eggs and fry-ups.

Our reporter, Christopher Megrath, reviewed Bam Boo, giving it a whopping five star rating - you can read the full article here.

Bam Boo is on 108 Bold St, Liverpool L1 4HY
