Five changes happening in Norfolk this July

From a MasterChef contestant opening a bistro to a Post Office relocating after 70 years - here are five business changes happening in Norfolk this month.

1. Michael's Bistro

A chef who appeared on MasterChef is opening a dog-friendly bistro in Holt.

Michael Carr and Charlotte Taylor are launching the bistro in the former Il Calabrese site.

The couple are hoping to create a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, serving good value food made with fresh local ingredients.

2. Hansons Auctioneers 

Charles Hanson, known for his appearances on Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip, will open a new branch of Hansons Auctioneers this month.

The saleroom will be located in The Rostrum, Jewellery and Fine Art Auctioneers at The Old Bakery in Thorpe Market Road, Roughton.

It will be Mr Hanson's seventh UK saleroom since launching the first in his home county of Derbyshire in 2005.

The first auction at The Rostrum is scheduled for July 20.

3. Diss Post Office

Diss Post Office, currently found in Market Place, will be moved to the former home of Octagon Craft Gallery and Coffee Lounge at 35e Mere Street.

It has been confirmed that the current branch will close at 5.30pm on July 12 and the new branch will open at 1pm on July 16.

The new premises, which is currently empty, will undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate the Post Office and a card and stationery store.

4. New nature trails at Pensthorpe Natural Park

Pensthorpe Natural Park near Fakenham will transform into a magical princess-themed land from July 20 until August 11.

The trails begin at the Discovery Centre and take visitors across the reserve, highlighting techniques that mammals, insects and plants use to thrive.

Booking is recommended and tickets cost £16.95 for adults and £15.95 for children aged three to 16.

5. New pick-you-own sunflower field

The owners of Ha Ha Farm in Strumpshaw are opening a second pick-your-own sunflower field in Holme-next-the-Sea at the end of July.

The site will be along Beach Road and will be open from July 27 to August 18 from 10am to 4pm, with coffee vendors and crafts too.

Both sunflower fields have free entry and it costs £2 per stem, payable by cash or card, with dogs welcome on leads.
