FKA Twigs opens up about Shia LaBeouf split

FKA Twigs has opened up about her split from Shia LaBeouf.

In a new cover interview for British Vogue, the singer-songwriter reflected on her struggle with trauma and PTSD following her year-long relationship with the former Disney actor.

In 2021, two years after their relationship ended, Twigs revealed that she had filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf, accusing him of assault, sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress, citing "relentless abuse".

Following her accusations, the Transformers actor admitted that he was ashamed of his behaviour, but denied many of the allegations.

"I think naively I thought it would be like any other break-up, that I'd be sad for six months to a year, and then one day I'd wake up and everything would be fine," Twigs, 36, told the publication. "But the fact is being abused changes the whole of your nervous system."

She added, "Because my window of tolerance is now much smaller than it used to be, my body manifests stress in quite extreme ways - it really shows me when it's upset."

Twigs, real name Tahliah Barnett, went on to explain that she has tried a number of methods to help her cope with the trauma and PTSD.

"I've had to be very compassionate with myself and really listen to myself to get better," she shared. "Now I want to challenge myself to know more about the simple, most pure and important things: love, nature, food, a nontoxic lifestyle, my body."

The Cellophane singer added, "The path I'm on is not the pastel pink yoga leggings aesthetic."

Twigs' lawsuit against the actor, 37, is due to go to trial in October this year, after being postponed twice.
