The Flash star Jesse L Martin has made his return to filming following a medical hiatus.

The actor, who plays Detective Joe West, hasn't been seen on screen much recently after taking medical leave. Following an initial attempt to overcome a back injury he sustained over the show's summer hiatus, Martin took time out from the CW series to work on his recovery.

Thankfully, he's now back and this adorable video posted to Instagram by Cecille Horton actress Danielle Nicolet proves it:

Martin's return to filming has also been confirmed by The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing, who also promised that fans will learn more about his character Joe West's lengthy absence.

Helbing told TV Guide: "[Joe] is definitely coming back.

"We'll explain sort of why Joe West was gone for as long as he was, and we'll try not to put him into any more scenarios where he injures his back."

In December last year, The Flash aired its 100th episode which unfortunately had to take place without Joe.

It's thought Joe's explanation for his absence will have something to do with his newborn daughter, Jenna West, who has also recently been absent from screens.

The Flash airs on The CW in the US and Sky One in the UK.
