Fleeing Violence, Rohingya Refugees Cross Rivers, Swamps to Bangladesh

Members of Myanmar’s Rohingya minority Muslim group waded across swamps and rivers to reach Bangladesh, fleeing on October 17 from systematic violence at home.

In this video, people can be seen crossing the river on the border between Myanmar and Bangladesh, carrying what belongings they have above the water.

Since the end of August, 530,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh, the IOM said.

Amnesty International said it has collected evidence showing the Tat Ma Daw, Myanmar’s military, has committed crimes against humanity. Credit: UNHCR via Storyful
