Flooding Begins as Atmospheric River Hits California

Parts of California braced for flooding as an atmospheric river with excessive rainfall threatened to overflow creeks on Friday, March 10, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Footage posted to Twitter by @subonekd shows a flooded field in Aromas, a community in Monterey County and San Benito County, on Friday morning, he said.

“This was a dry field yesterday afternoon,” he wrote on Twitter.

Evacuation orders were in place for parts of Santa Cruz County amid flood concerns, officials said, and deputies went “door to door to help move people to safety.”
