Floodwaters Cover Highway in Santa Rosa

Heavy rain flooded a highway and several streets in Santa Rosa on Thursday, March 9, prompting road closures as an “atmospheric river” moved across California.

Footage uploaded by the Santa Rosa Fire Department shows floodwaters submerging Highway 12 and other streets in the Santa Rosa area. The fire department said the highway was closed.

The National Weather Service received reports of flooding, washed out roads and mudslides across San Francisco’s Bay Area on Friday. The service advised residents to use extreme caution if travel is necessary. Credit: Santa Rosa Fire Department via Storyful
