Florida Trooper Narrowly Avoids Being Hit by Passing Driver

A Florida trooper was “nearly killed” on April 21 when a passing driver swiped his door as he was stepping out to respond to another traffic collision in Leon County.

Dashcam footage from a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle shows a passing truck swipe the police car as it speeds past the scene of the other collision. Video from the police vehicle shot from a different angle shows the passing vehicle hit a car door as Trooper Steven Jones was opening it to step out.

The video here was shared by The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles who urged drivers to “move over or slow down 20 mph below the speed limit” if they see lights up ahead. Credit: FLHSMV via Storyful
