New Footage Released Showing Ukrainian Forces Retaking Snake Island on 2-Year Anniversary

Ukraine’s security services published previously unreleased footage of their recapture of Snake Island on the two-year anniversary of the event, a high-profile victory for Ukraine during the first year of the Russian invasion.

The footage from late June 2022 shows bodycam views of the Ukrainian military operation to reclaim the strategically important land mass, also known as Zmiinyi Island.

The island became a symbol of Ukrainian defiance after soldier Roman Hrybov uttered the phrase
