Marc Albrighton has penned an emotional and heartfelt farewell following his release from Leicester City.

It was confirmed on Friday that the 34-year-old would be leaving the King Power Stadium after a trophy-laden decade at a club he says has helped him turn his dreams into a reality.

The winger, who joined from Aston Villa, leaves as a Premier League, FA Cup and Championship winner and as one of the most loved Foxes players of recent times.

But with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Jannik Vestergaard being kept on following a return to the top flight, Albrighton says he will take time to consider his next step.

He took to social media to address City fans, players and the club’s owners. Albrighton wrote: “After an unforgettable ten years at Leicester City Football Club, my time has now come to move on.

“When I signed for the club back it (sic) 2014 from my boyhood club Aston Villa, never did I think that I could be so emotionally attached to another football club. However over these last ten years of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows I can truly say that I’ve never felt so at home than wearing the Leicester badge on my chest.

“The success which we have experienced together are the best moments of my life and they will live with me forever.

“Through tough times I’ve had on and off the pitch during these years, the Leicester family have gathered around me and given me every bit of support to overcome them and come out the other side stronger.

“I’ve built so many amazing relationships with people at the club that it would be too much to thank them all.

“However, I would like to say a massive thank you to my team mates who I’ve shared some unforgettable times with. And also the fans who have been there throughout it all, win lose or draw. And last the Srivaddhanaprabha family who have made all of this possible. I will never be able to repay your kindness, faith and generosity. You gave me the opportunity to achieve my dreams, for which I’ll be forever thankful.

“I’m still undecided on what my future holds but for now I’ll take some quality time with my three beautiful daughters and consider my options.

“I wish Leicester every success in the future and will make sure I’m a regular at the King Power to support the lads!

“Thank you for everything

Marc”.

Albrighton leaves having made 313 appearances for City. Signed by Nigel Pearson he helped the Foxes achieve their great escape in 2015, then played every game the following season as Claudio Ranieri led the club to the most unlikely of title victories. He was also an early substitute in the FA Cup win at Wembley in 2021.
